Here is an update on the status quo of the Japanese market for tablets: according to a report issued by IDC Japan today, domestic tablet shipments increased 19.3% year-on-year to 1.97 million units in the second quarter of 2014.
The research firm says that one of the main reasons for the plus is that more users showed interest in the 4G-enabled Android tablets from Japan’s biggest carrier NTT Docomo.
Another factor was increased demand by enterprises in tablets, especially the iPad and Windows devices: according to IDC Japan, shipments in that segment rose by 41.8% to 420,000 units.
On the other hand, tablets shipments for use by individuals rose just 14.3% to 1.55 million units in Q2.

While Apple’s iPad having the biggest percentage at almost 40% is no surprise, it looks like Fujitsu are quite successful in placing their “Arrows” line of Android tablets on the Japanese market:
