Tokyo-based mobile game provider Colopl has racked up a staggering 20 million registered users across its portfolio.
It took the company roughly 16 months to reach this milestone (the first title was released in September 2011): 10 months to get to the first 10 million users, and another 6 months for the rest.
Another major bullet point here is that Colopl is just counting users for their smartphone games, 24 titles in total currently (running on iOS and Android).
What’s also interesting is that the company isn’t using GREE or Mobage to distribute any of its games (including titles that are social in nature) but focuses on its own platform (for some games, at least) and cross-promotion abilities.
Colopl’s only English-language game at the moment is Dino Dominion (F2P on Google Play, iOS).
The company successfully went IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange last December and is currently worth US$495 million.
