GREE, which hasn’t seen a few hits on its platform in quite some time now, can be happy: Metal Gear Solid Social Ops, the first social game in the Metal Gear franchise, seems to be a success.
The GREE-exclusive title launched on December 4, was off to a good start, and passed 500,000 downloads on December 14. It hit the top spot on the Japanese App Store and No. 2 on Japan’s Google Play chart (both for free apps).
Metal Gear Solid Social Ops is exactly the kind of game GREE needs, and it’s actually a fun one – especially on the iPad (only available in Japanese so far though).
To celebrate the milestone, maker Konami launched an in-game campaign that gives GREE users the chance to lay their hands on special Christmas Metal Gear cards (see below):
There is also a new trailer:
Metal Gear Solid Social Ops is available as a native app for iOS or Android.
