I am not seeing many Japanese social game developers jumping ship from Mobage or GREE to LINE, but LINE operator NHN Japan did a step in the right direction at the Tokyo Game Show 2012 (which ends tomorrow).
The company signed a deal with Korea-based WeMade, under which WeMade will distribute a total of six social games on LINE.
WeMade has a booth at the Tokyo Game Show, and I must say I was impressed by the interest Japanese gamers have in this company.
Here are the WeMade games that will hit LINE soon:
Ark Sphere (this MMORPG was especially popular at the WeMade booth)
Hero Square (social RPG)
Lollipop Island (“island management” simulation with 200,000 DAU in Korea)
Pocket Pet Kingdom (pet-raising)
Cafe De Collection (coffee shop management simulation)
Country Town (farming simulation)
NHN Japan says that Chaos & Defense, a real-time strategy game made by WeMade, will hit LINE first.
A WeMade representative at the TGS booth told me his company is planning to release these titles in the West, too. Chaos & Defense, for example, was already showcased at E3 in the US earlier this year.
