As its Ameba-based social gaming platform is around the corner, CyberAgent sure needs some creative firepower to be able to develop as many games internally as possible.
The company announced that it invested in Hoolai, a Beijing-based game developer that’s backed by Sequoia China, Greylock Capital and German media juggernaut Bertelsmann AG, among others. CyberAgent used the CyberAgent Ventures China office to do the deal.
In the fall of last year, Hoolai released a strategy game on GREE’s Japanese platform.
Terms of the CyberAgent-Hoolai deal weren’t disclosed.
