Big news from DeNA today: Tomoko Namba, the founder, Representative Director, President and CEO, will be stepping down on June 25, after DeNA’s 13th annual shareholders meeting. Namba, who apparently plans to take care of a sick family member, will be replaced by the Mobage operator’s General Manager of Social Media and COO Isao Moriyasu.
While Namba’s move is surprising, the decision to let Moriyasu take over control isn’t (he is well-known in Japan’s social gaming industry to have always been one of the key persons and decision makers in the company).
Namba will continue to work for DeNA as a “key member of the board of directors and as an advisor”.
