Mixi today announced the launch of “Socialphone”, an app that will make it easier for Android users to access the social network on their handsets (Mixi started offering the official Mixi app for Android in December last year).
Socialphone can be downloaded for free from the Android Market (Android 2.2 and up). Among other things, Mixi says that users can post “tweets”, submit blog posts and view the location of their friends using Mixi Check-In more easily.
By June, users with FeliCa-enabled handsets will be able to connect just by tapping their phones. Socialphone also synchronizes data in the Android address book with that of the friend list on Mixi automatically.
For the time being, the new service is available on phones provided by SoftBank only (it’s pre-installed on the Sharp Galapagos 005SH that was launched today). But Mixi will start offering Socialphone for Android handsets from other carriers after June.
